Family Mediation is an alternative to litigation, offering separated couples a neutral ground to discuss & jointly agree
to arrangements for their children & finances. It offers respectful & less expensive solutions to couples who do not
wish to create financial & emotional stress for themselves & their children. Mediation is not counselling, but does
help the parties put aside their emotional issues & focus on making reasonable decisions based on facts. A mediator will
not give legal advice & will not make decisions for the parties. The mediator who is trained to deal with issues relating
to Family Law, the Divorce Act, the Children’s Reform Act, etc will aid the parties in negotiating the settlement
of family matters by the creation of a separation agreement. The agreement is then reviewed by each party with their lawyer
prior to completion.
